EXPERIENCE THE FUNCTIONALITY OF LASERS IN EVERDAY DENTISTRY

HANDS-ON WORKSHOP

Limited to 30 Participants

 

Appropriate non-magnifying laser protective eyewear will be provided for the attendees.


It is recommended and encouraged that participants bring magnification eyewear (loupes), and any corresponding laser filters that they have for their convenience.


In this hands-on workshop participants will have the opportunity to look at, touch, feel, use, and compare a wide range of laser and light based technologies side by side for themselves. It is designed to give attendees experience using many of today’s devices to perform various, simulated, everyday dental procedures.


Course Objectives:

·       Experience the different benefits of the various lasers.

·       Experience and visualize the interactions of different light and laser energy on various biologic structures.

·       The confidence to select the type of laser that will be beneficial to their practice.

Scott D. Benjamin, DDS ’78 is an internationally recognized expert and lecturer on dental lasers, oral cancer and advanced dental technologies and is in private practice in rural, upstate New York, where he utilizes several lasers of different wavelengths on an everyday basis. Dr. Benjamin has faculty appointments at several universities and dental schools. He is the Chairman of the ADA Standards Committee Working Group on dental lasers, a member of ANSI Committee Z-136 on laser safety, and is the immediate past-president of the Academy of Laser Dentistry and was their 2007 and 2010 Scientific Program Chairman. Dr. Benjamin has published over 200 articles and several textbook chapters on dental lasers and advanced dental technologies. He is a member of the editorial board of several peer reviewed dental journals and is presently the technology editor for the Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry.
